Summary of Position

Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, the Plant Manager is responsible for production, maintenance and facilities, regulatory/ QA, sanitation and shipping for the Company’s Addison, IL production plant, which operates 24/6 on a Sunday to Friday schedule. The Plant Manager is supported by a Director of Facilities (maintenance) and Director of Food Safety who report to the Chief Operations Officer, and a Director of HR who reports to the VP of Human Resources; these individuals provide technical expertise and indirect oversight of plant staff. The Plant Manager will set high standards and drive superior operating results regarding productivity, efficiency, product quality, OTIF, cost, food safety, sanitation, and employee safety. The Plant Manager will lead a team of 4 managers and 12 supervisors, and a total workforce of ~ 200 , of which 165 are union members of BCTGM.

Essential Job Functions

  • Partner with Chief Operations Officer on site business planning, forecasting, budgeting, and capital project management.
  • Deliver operational excellence by using lean methodology to increase output and drive down costs while producing products that consistently meet customer’s quality and delivery expectations.
  • Create and maintain a performance-based culture by utilizing plant analytics to make data driven decisions.
  • Staff, manage, develop, and motivate a high-quality, collaborative management team instilling an employee-supportive team culture committed to safety, excellence, continuous improvement, and creative, cost-conscious problem solving.
  • Champion employee safety and partner with Director of HR to lead plant safety council. Develop and execute annual safety plan.
  • Partner with senior leaders to ensure regulatory compliance with city, county, and state governmental agencies including permits, license, food safety, OSHA, and environmental. Master Company policies, procedures, and cultural norms. Hold team accountable for compliance with the letter and spirit of these requirements while acting as a role model and coach.
  • Implement continuous improvement projects to optimize performance outcomes.
  • Partner with Director of Supply Chain to optimize inventories, service and working capital.
  • Partner with marketing and R&D on new product development and trials.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in operations, engineering, supply chain management or related field.
  • 8-10 years’ manufacturing management experience with ability to demonstrate track record of measurable performance improvements and cost savings.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills with demonstrated expertise in quantitative modeling and advanced EXCEL skills. Strong bias toward data-driven decision-making.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Executive poise; positive, resilient, and calm under pressure.
  • Expert creative problem solver.

Preferred But Not Required

  • Food manfacturing experience with emphasis on product and process.
  • MBA or master’s degree in procurement or supply chain management.
  • Applied experience with continuous improvement methods such as: 80/20, Value Stream Mapping, 6S, Lean Conversion, Standard Work, Visual Daily Management, Kanban/Replenishment systems, FMEA, Advanced Problem Solving.
  • Bi-lingual English and Spanish.
